A man in his 60s has tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while cycling in Huyton, Merseyside. The incident occurred near the junction of Tarbock Road and Manley Road at approximately 12:20 GMT on Wednesday, 6 March 2025.
Investigation and Arrest
Merseyside Police reported that the victim had been riding a blue mountain bike when he was hit by a black Volkswagen ID5, which then fled the scene. Officers later found the vehicle abandoned on Greenfield Drive, a short distance away.
A 34-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Additionally, he encouraged homeowners and businesses with CCTV systems to check for footage of the black Volkswagen ID5 before or after the crash, as it could be crucial to the investigation.
